From here on out there are 13 to 14 crucial games left for the National League West division title and one spot for the Wild Card in the National League. There are 3 teams competing for the NL West division in the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and the Colorado Rockies. I wanted to point out the remaining schedule for the 3 teams to see who has the best chance to win the division.
Remaining Schedule:
Teams Competing for NL West:
San Diego Padres: St. Louis Cardinals, LA Dodgers (road), Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and San Francisco Giants (road). (2 Home Series + 2 Road Series)
San Francisco Giants:: Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs (road), Colorado Rockies (road), Arizona D-Backs, and San Diego Padres. (2 Home Series + 2 Road Series)
Colorado Rockies:: LA Dodgers, Arizona D-Backs (road), San Francisco Giants, LA Dodgers, and St. Louis Cardinals. (3 Home Series + 1 Road Series)
Key Observations:
Colorado has an advantage because of 3 home series compared to San Diego (2) and San Francisco (2).
San Diego and Colorado has an advantage because they only play same division team once more compared to San Francisco who will play both San Diego and Colorado.
Both San Diego and Colorado will play the LA Dodgers once more in a series and depending on a built rivalry, LA will play San Diego tough.
Conclusion::
I don't know based on scheduling who has the best advantage out of the 3 teams, but definitely San Francisco Giants have the worst scheduling because they have to face both divisional teams in their remaining schedule.
Important Series:
San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies (home)
Note: This series could determine what happens in the race for the NL or wildcard spot.
